Before the official start of the summit, President Mnangagwa held a cordial interaction with his host, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea. The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between their countries.

As SADC Chairperson, President Mnangagwa is expected to present the regional bloc’s position on key issues and outline SADC’s efforts in promoting regional stability, economic growth, and alignment with the AU Agenda 2063.

The AU Mid-Year Coordination Meeting serves as a critical platform for enhancing coordination between the African Union and its regional blocs. It also assesses the implementation of flagship projects under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and other integration programmes.
