Zimbabwe is set to mark its National Day at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa scheduled to lead the official commemorations on Wednesday.

The celebration, seen as a major highlight for participating countries, will give Zimbabwe an opportunity to showcase its culture, identity, and economic vision under the theme “Beyond the Limits.” According to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet, the event will take place from 11am to 12pm local time in Japan (4am to 5am Zimbabwean time) at the National Day Hall (Ray Gardens).

The programme will include cultural displays, speeches, and exhibitions of Zimbabwean music, art, and heritage. President Mnangagwa is also expected to meet Japanese government officials and top business leaders to explore opportunities in areas such as agriculture, energy, tourism, mining, and infrastructure.

Ahead of the National Day, a Zimbabwe-Japan business forum will be held on Tuesday at the Grand Prince Hotel Osaka. The forum aims to bring together investors, government representatives, and industry leaders to discuss ways to strengthen economic ties and promote Zimbabwe as a viable investment destination.

President Mnangagwa will deliver a keynote address at the forum, outlining Zimbabwe’s development goals focused on innovation and sustainability.

Zimbabwe’s Commissioner-General to Expo 2025, Mr Allan Majuru, who is also the CEO of ZimTrade, said the celebrations will help promote Zimbabwe’s cultural and economic potential to the global community. He noted that the event will include targeted networking sessions and business meetings designed to connect Zimbabwean companies with Japanese and Asian partners.

“Our aim is to demonstrate that Zimbabwe is ready for global business,” said Mr Majuru. “We are focusing on sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, energy, and mining—areas where we have strong potential and are seeking strategic partnerships.”

Business-to-business (B2B) meetings and customised engagement sessions will offer companies the chance to connect directly with potential investors and importers.

Zimbabwe is among 158 nations and seven international organisations taking part in Expo 2025, which runs from April 13 to October 13 under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” The expo aims to promote innovation, cultural exchange, and global collaboration in solving major global challenges.
