Parirenyatwa Hospital, one of Zimbabwe’s largest healthcare facilities, is set to transform its energy landscape with a pioneering solar power initiative.
A partnership between the Government of Zimbabwe and Prevail International, a leading renewable energy firm, has launched a state-of-the-art solar-powered system has been launched, marking a significant step toward sustainable healthcare infrastructure.
The innovative project features a 100 kW solar unit equipped with two 60.5 kW-hour high-voltage battery packs and a sophisticated BMU control system.
Additionally, two 50 kW inverters, connected in parallel to operate as a single unit, ensure seamless and efficient energy distribution.
This cutting-edge setup will not only power critical operations at Parirenyatwa Hospital but also contribute surplus energy to the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) national grid, bolstering Zimbabwe’s renewable energy efforts.
This initiative underscores Prevail International’s expertise in renewable energy solutions and reflects the government’s commitment to modernising healthcare under the leadership of His Excellency, President ED Mnangagwa.
The solar system is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s energy reliability and efficiency, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services for thousands of patients, as highlighted in recent reports by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
As renovations at Parirenyatwa Hospital progress, this solar-powered system stands as a beacon of innovation, aligning with global sustainable development goals outlined by the United Nations.
The project promises a brighter, more sustainable future for Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector and its citizens, positioning the nation as a leader in green healthcare solutions.
