Scott Sakupwanya and Paul Tungwarara, Zimbabwean businessmen, have joined forces to support grassroots football by contributing a combined US$40,000 to Jadel Football Academy (JFA).

Sakupwanya, through his personal initiative, donated US$30,000, while Tungwarara, via his Prevail Group of Companies, added US$10,000 to help the academy participate in two major international tournaments in China over the next five weeks.

The academy, known for nurturing young talent across Zimbabwe, left for China yesterday to represent the nation in global youth competitions, including the prestigious 100-Team Cup in Beijing, where they impressed during their debut last year.

JFA founder and director Walter “Ringers” Musanhu hailed the gesture as a game-changing moment for the academy and youth football in Zimbabwe.

“I’m proud to see businessmen like Scott Sakupwanya and Paul Tungwarara stepping up to support this dream. Their contributions are not just financial, they are acts of belief in the power of sport to transform lives,” he said.

Musanhu also extended gratitude to individuals like Desmond Ali and businesses such as Ezulwini Lodges for backing the cause, noting that the academy’s goal is to develop players who can one day help Zimbabwe qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2034.

“This is more than an academy. It’s a national project. We’ve brought in kids from all corners of the country because we believe Zimbabwe has the talent, it just needs the opportunity,” Musanhu added.

JFA will be guided by experienced coaches in China, including former Warriors legend Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa and goalkeeping coach Tichaona Diya.

The strong support from the private sector signals a growing movement to elevate Zimbabwe’s sporting profile and invest in its future champions.
