Renovations are well underway at the iconic Adlum Hostel, part of the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals’ Student Nurse Residence, in a landmark project that is breathing new life into one of Zimbabwe’s most important healthcare training facilities.

The ambitious upgrade is being led by Prevail International, a prominent development firm founded and owned by Presidential Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara.

The scope of the work is substantial 356 rooms are being fully renovated, and state-of-the-art bathrooms have been added to each floor, dramatically improving hygiene standards, comfort, and accessibility for student nurses.

This transformative effort directly enhances the day-to-day lives of hundreds of nursing students who form the backbone of the country’s future healthcare system.

During a recent media tour of the site, Prevail Project Manager Vanessa Butao led journalists through the ongoing construction, showcasing the attention to detail, quality, and care behind the renovations.

“We are completely reimagining the space,” Butao said. “From the plumbing to lighting, everything is being upgraded to modern standards. These are not just cosmetic changes — they are critical improvements that promote dignity, efficiency, and wellbeing for our student nurses.”

To address persistent power challenges, Prevail International has also installed 200 solar panels atop Adlum House, creating a reliable solar energy system to supplement the grid. This sustainable intervention ensures uninterrupted electricity for essential functions such as lighting, hot water, and security — a game-changing development for the hostel’s residents.

The project is fully aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra, “Leaving No One and No Place Behind,” and contributes meaningfully to the broader Vision 2030 development agenda. Prevail International continues to play a pivotal role in national progress by delivering infrastructure projects that are both socially impactful and environmentally resilient.
