Reactive police units apprehended a cattle rustler believed to be part of a syndicate that stole and deboned two oxen.

National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development, stating that the suspect was arrested on 27 July 2025.

“Police in Featherstone, who were on a motorised patrol, intercepted a Honda Fit vehicle, registration number AFM 1125, at Munyati Bridge.

“They arrested the driver, Samuel Gwama (42), in connection with a case of stock theft,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

He said the arrest led to the recovery of nine 50-kilogram sacks filled with fresh meat wrapped in plastic.

“Investigations by the police established that the meat had been deboned from two oxen stolen from Mavise Village 7, Mvuma, during the night of 26 July 2025.”
