Police Condemn Filming of Accidents Instead of Offering Help
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has reiterated its warning to the public against taking photos and videos at accident scenes instead of assisting victims.
Speaking on the matter, Masvingo Province Deputy Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, expressed concern over the growing trend of bystanders filming crash scenes for social media rather than offering help.
“Such behavior is not only morally wrong but can also delay life-saving assistance to the injured,” said Assistant Inspector Patinyu. He urged citizens to prioritise saving lives over capturing content, adding that in some cases, victims might have survived had immediate help been rendered.
The police also reminded the public that obstructing emergency services or interfering with accident scenes is a punishable offence. Authorities are encouraging responsible citizenship and respect for human life in emergencies.
