Health and Child Care Minister Dr. Douglas Mombeshora visited Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital yesterday to evaluate service delivery, drug availability, and the state of medical equipment.

During the tour, Dr. Mombeshora inspected several departments, including radiology, dentistry, the lab, and wards some of which now house modern digital machines. He announced that the hospital is set to become a teaching institution next year and will begin training medical students.

He emphasised the importance of equipping all departments to meet the standards of a teaching hospital and expressed satisfaction with the current level of service.

“I spoke with patients, and they’re pleased with the care. Drug availability has also improved compared to last year,” he said, though he noted that drug stock levels should ideally reach 80%.

Dr. Mombeshora highlighted the need to upgrade some wards with better beds and linen and to improve the laundry system for consistent cleanliness.

He was accompanied by Provincial Medical Director Dr. Celestino Dhege and later joined by Medical Superintendent Dr. Collett Mawire.
