President Boosts Soldier Welfare

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and living conditions of soldiers serving in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) across all sectors.

The pledge comes as part of ongoing efforts to provide better facilities and support for military personnel to perform their duties effectively.

Speaking during ZDF address, the President said, “Our soldiers are the backbone of our national security.

 

It is our responsibility to ensure they have access to improved housing, healthcare, training, and family support services that meet modern standards.”

 

The President highlighted that the government is actively working to upgrade barracks, medical facilities, and educational centers within the Defence Forces.

 

“By investing in the welfare of our men and women in uniform, we are investing in the future stability and development of Zimbabwe,” he added.

 

President Mnangagwa said importance of mental health and career development, stating,

 

“It is not enough to provide physical infrastructure; we must also nurture the well-being and professional growth of our soldiers. Their sacrifices demand fair remuneration and comprehensive support.”

 

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ leadership has welcomed the President’s commitment, noting that improved welfare will enhance operational readiness and discipline.

 

“When our soldiers are well cared for, their dedication and effectiveness in protecting the nation and contributing to development initiatives are greatly enhanced,” said Minister of Defence Muchinguri .

The President also assured that the government will maintain continuous dialogue with soldiers and their families to identify their needs and respond accordingly.

 

Funding for these improvements will be prioritized in the national budget, with possible collaboration with international partners.
