Egypt has expressed its intention to broaden collaboration with Zimbabwe, with a particular focus on enhancing skills and training in public broadcasting, alongside other key development areas.

During a meeting in Harare on Thursday, the Egyptian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Salwa Mowafi, met with the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, to discuss potential avenues for deepening cooperation between the two nations.

Dr. Muswere highlighted several areas where Egypt’s expertise could benefit Zimbabwe, citing recent developments in the North African nation.

“Egypt has unveiled a modern city, and we are looking at ways to exchange knowledge in sectors such as healthcare and childcare, tourism, agriculture, and water management, including reticulation and purification.

We also aim to strengthen political, economic, and technical partnerships, particularly in infrastructure, housing, health, tourism, agriculture, and the modernisation of our public broadcasting institutions,” he said.

Ambassador Mowafi praised the progress achieved in collaborative projects so far, especially in the pharmaceutical sector.

“Zimbabwe is a sister nation, and Egypt is eager to work with it across many fields of development. Our discussions included cooperation between media institutions, with an emphasis on capacity building and training. Egypt remains firmly committed to advancing relations between our two countries,” she noted.

Egypt and Zimbabwe enjoy longstanding bilateral relations, with ongoing partnerships in sectors such as health, education, and communication.
