VP Chiwenga Graces Academic Opening at Arrupe Jesuit University
Vice President, General (Retired) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga attended the academic opening assembly at Arrupe Jesuit University in Harare, marking the official start of the institution’s new academic year.
Arrupe Jesuit University is a private Catholic higher learning institution that embraces cultural diversity. Its roots trace back to the early 1990s, when it was established as Arrupe College in 1994.
The college was primarily set up to provide part of the training required for young Jesuits preparing for Christian ministry, whether as priests or brothers.
In 2018, the institution was granted full university status, enabling it to confer academic degrees. Today, it remains the center of philosophical and humanistic education not only for Jesuit trainees but also for members of several other religious congregations in Zimbabwe and neighbouring countries.
The academic opening assembly serves as a significant event in the university calendar, symbolising the beginning of a new chapter for both students and staff.
