Discovery Ambulance Pledges Reliable Emergency Service

Discovery Ambulance Services has reiterated its pledge to provide dependable and professional emergency medical care to Zimbabweans, despite efforts by some critics to derail its partnership with Harare City Council.

The private ambulance provider, known for raising the bar in pre-hospital emergency response, continues to deliver life-saving assistance in communities while contributing to the broader development of the national health system.

Government Backing

Health and Child Care Minister, Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, applauded the collaboration between Discovery Ambulance Services and Harare City Council, describing it as a “progressive and strategic initiative that will protect lives and reinforce our healthcare sector.”

He encouraged other private organisations to emulate the move by working with government in strengthening service delivery within the health sector.

“This is the kind of partnership that accelerates progress and serves every citizen. We welcome those willing to make meaningful contributions to our healthcare system,” he said.

City Council Endorsement

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume also expressed support, stressing that Discovery’s arrival was timely given the city’s urgent need for improved emergency medical response.

“Discovery Ambulance Services has come in at a decisive moment. Their presence boosts our city’s ability to act swiftly and effectively during emergencies,” Mafume remarked.

Company founder and CEO, David Munowenyu, assured that Discovery’s commitment to saving lives remains steadfast.

“Our mission is to serve the people. We will continue this work until we see a modern, industrialised Zimbabwe,” he said.

Munowenyu noted that while some individuals opposed to progress were attempting to discredit the initiative, the company remained focused on outcomes that strengthen emergency healthcare delivery.

“Criticism will not stop us. We are determined to expand services, enhance resilience, and ensure that every community has access to timely emergency response,” he added.

The joint programme with Harare City Council represents a significant step in improving urban health services. Discovery Ambulance Services emphasised that such efforts should be viewed as part of the country’s wider health transformation agenda rather than being politicised.
