Scottland, Dynamos Set for High-Stakes PSL Showdown at Rufaro
Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title contenders Scottland FC are set to face struggling giants Dynamos this Saturday at Rufaro Stadium in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter both on and off the pitch.
Scottland, currently second on the log with 52 points, trail league leaders Simba Bhora by just a single point. Dynamos, on the other hand, find themselves in unfamiliar territory, sitting second from bottom with 25 points as the league season enters its crucial phase.
While all eyes are on the action expected on the field, the build-up to the match has been dominated by a heated online debate over seating arrangements — particularly over who will occupy the iconic Vietnam Stand, a passionate and historic section traditionally associated with Dynamos.
The controversy erupted on social media earlier this week, with fans from both clubs claiming rights to the stand. Dynamos supporters argue that the Vietnam Stand is inseparable from the club’s identity, dating back to the days of club legend George Shaya.
Prominent football blogger Makomborero Mutimukulu weighed in on the issue, siding with Dynamos in the growing dispute.
“Vietnam belongs to Dynamos,” said Mutimukulu. “Dynamos will sit at Vietnam either home or away — even in Mabvuku.”
However, Scottland FC have publicly stated that they will not occupy the Vietnam Stand. The club urged its supporters to sit elsewhere at Rufaro, effectively avoiding a potential flashpoint with Dynamos fans.
The decision appears to be aimed at maintaining order and minimizing clashes during the already high-tension match.
With vital points on the line for both teams — Scottland chasing the title and Dynamos fighting to avoid relegation — the stage is set for a fiercely contested match in one of Zimbabwe’s most iconic stadiums.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3 PM.
