Senate President and Zanu PF Women’s League leader, Cde Mabel Chinomona, has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to craft comprehensive measures that will ensure women across the country are positioned in governance structures and empowered to contribute to the attainment of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030.

Speaking at the launch of the Presidential Poultry Scheme at St Paul’s Musami Mission, Senator Chinomona said women have always been the backbone of Zanu PF both before and after independence.

“We are comrades of the liberation struggle, and age is no longer on our side.
As Zanu PF renews itself, the Young Women 4ED initiative is on the rise.
Your Excellency, President Dr. Mnangagwa, we stand with you on the empowerment projects you have introduced.
As women, we fully support your office for providing us with various empowerment opportunities,” she said.

Senator Chinomona added that it is time for the highest office in the land to focus on the next generation of women who did not participate in the liberation struggle.

“We cannot hide from the truth—we are getting old, and the next generation of women must be empowered.
Our position is clear: through President Mnangagwa, we urge that our future generations of women be equipped and empowered,” said Senator Chinomona.

The event saw hundreds of women under the Young Women 4ED program receiving day-old chicks, feed, and training support to boost household income. Senator Chinomona said the initiative will promote food security and enable women to run sustainable poultry projects.
