Family Robbed of USD 14,000
Two unidentified suspects stormed a home in Bulawayo and threatened to kill its occupants with an unknown object before fleeing with over USD 14,000.
Deputy Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, confirmed the incident, stating that a manhunt has been launched for the two suspects.
“Police are investigating a case of robbery that occurred in Gwabalanda, Bulawayo.
“On 27 August 2025, at around 2000 hours, the complainant, a 30-year-old woman from Gwabalanda, was sitting in the dining room with her 17-year-old niece when two unknown male suspects entered the house through an unlocked door,” she said.
Assistant Inspector Ndlovu added that the suspects were not wearing balaclavas and produced an unknown object, which they used to threaten the victims.
“One of the suspects grabbed the niece by the neck and ordered her to hand over all the cash in the house. They then took her to her aunt’s bedroom, where she retrieved a purse containing USD 10,000, which she handed over to the suspects.
“A few minutes later, the suspects returned, demanding more money, claiming the amount they had received was less than what they were sent to collect from the complainant.
“The complainant then handed over another purse containing USD 2,000. The suspects also took a 32-inch Samsung television from the TV stand before fleeing, warning they would return. They counted the money and reportedly found it to be less than USD 20,000,” said Ndlovu.
The total value stolen is USD 14,400, and no recoveries have been made so far.
