DAS Transforms Residents’ Healthcare Access
Residents of Chimanimani have expressed immense gratitude and happiness over the ongoing Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme , a government initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Child Care in partnership with Discovery Ambulance Services (DAS).
Hundreds of people wait to be attended to by doctors and nurses at Biriri Secondary during the ongoing Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme. The outreach, led by the Ministry of Health and Child Care in partnership with Discovery Ambulance Services (DAS), is providing free medical check-ups, medication, and first aid training to rural communities.
Joshua Sacco, Member of Parliament for Chimanimani East told Hurumende News Hub that the community is highly appreciative of the government’s effort to bring healthcare closer to rural areas.
“This initiative shows the government cares about the health of every Zimbabwean.
People here often face challenges accessing medical services, and today they are receiving free check-ups, medication, and health advice.
We are very happy with the support from the Ministry and DAS,” Sacco said.
He further praised the outreach for empowering local communities with health knowledge and for fostering trust between the government and citizens.
Village Head Peter Muusha also welcomed the program, noting the importance of such initiatives in rural communities.
“Many people in our villages cannot afford to travel to clinics or consult doctors. Today, they are receiving vital medical attention right here in Chimanimani. We encourage DAS to continue this good work, as it is transforming the health and lives of our people,” he said.
Muusha emphasised that such programs not only save lives but also educate communities on preventive health measures.
Amai Sithole, a local resident, expressed her gratitude for the free medical outreach.
“This is a blessing to our community. We are getting services that many cannot afford, including screening, medication, and advice from trained professionals. We are truly thankful to the government for caring about us,” she said.
Founder of Discovery Ambulance Services, David Munowenyu, reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting the government’s vision. “We continue to work tirelessly under the guidance of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, striving to achieve the 2030 Vision of a healthier Zimbabwe. Our mission is to ensure that all citizens, especially those in rural areas, have access to quality healthcare,” Munowenyu said.
The Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme continues to provide free medical screening, medication, and first aid training across Chimanimani, reflecting the government and partners’ dedication to improving public health and the well-being of all Zimbabweans.
