Rising star Delan Mangatu, a 14-year-old athlete from Zimunya Marange, has secured a life changing sponsorship deal with Discovery Ambulance Services (DAS)after dazzling the continent with his athletic performances.

Mangatu, a NAPH 400m gold medalist raised the flag of Manicaland high in Hwange before carrying the Zimbabwean flag in Swaziland, where he clinched gold at the African competitions.

His triumphs have placed him among the brightest young talents in the country.

At the Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme outreach and ZANU PF Inter-District Meeting held at Berzel Bridge, Zimunya Marange District, the Founder and CEO of DAS, Cde David Munowenyu, announced a full sponsorship package for Delan.

The support includes athletic equipment, school uniforms, and other educational materials to ensure the young athlete can balance both sport and education.

“This is our responsibility as sons of the soil , to uplift the youth and make sure no talent dies because of lack of support. Dylan represents the vision of our nation and we will walk with him as he climbs higher,” said Cde Munowenyu.

The gesture was widely praised by senior party leaders.

The Manicaland ZANU PF Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Nyakuedzwa, commended Munowenyu for empowering young people and aligning with the vision of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to create opportunities for youth under the Second Republic.

“What Cde Munowenyu and DAS have done today is proof of patriotism and commitment to the future. This young man has raised our flag in Africa, and with this sponsorship, he will go even further. This is the true meaning of community empowerment,” said Cde Nyakuedzwa.

The recognition of Dylan Mangatu’s achievements brought pride to Zimunya, with community members hailing the support as a sign that local talent can flourish when given a helping hand.

With DAS behind him, Dylan is now set for even greater heights, carrying Zimbabwe’s hopes on the track.
