Jubilation, pomp and funfair aptly describe Mbare Ward 4, residents atmosphere following a roll-out of the Presidential Medical Scheme held in collaboration with Discovery Ambulance Services (DAS) free medical assistance and Basic First Aid training.

The initiative, led by DAS founder and CEO, Cde David Munowenyu, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, aims to equip communities with essential life-saving skills and immediate access to emergency medical services.

Residents are enthusiastic about the training, which empowers them to respond effectively in emergencies.

“I am very happy that we can now learn how to handle emergencies in our community,” said Mrs. Grace Chikowore, a local resident.

“This program is a blessing. It shows that the government and DAS really care about our lives.”

Another participant, Tendai Moyo,  noted, “The medics were very professional, and the training was easy to follow. I feel confident I can save someone’s life if an emergency occurs.”

The program reflectsPresident ED Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes leaving no one behind and improving access to healthcare for marginalized communities.

Residents are also being encouraged to save emergency contact numbers, including the toll-free 991, to ensure immediate response when needed.

Cde Munowenyu emphasized that the collaboration is not only about providing medical services but also empowering communities with knowledge to protect and save lives.
