73 Kilograms of Dagga Seized
Police units in Chipinge and Beitbridge have intercepted over 70 kilograms of dagga (marijuana) in separate incidents involving different couriers.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrests and reiterated that the fight against drug trafficking will continue nationwide.
“On September 2, 2025, police in Chipinge arrested bus driver Juda Gondo (27), bus conductor Abraham Marakia (62), and passenger Nyasha Jojo (30) for unlawful possession of dagga.
“The suspects were intercepted at the 256-kilometre mark along the Ngundu–Tanganda Road,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He added that a search of the bus led to the recovery of 66.5 kilograms of compressed dagga, which had been packed into 23 plastic parcels.
In a separate incident, Commissioner Nyathi said that on September 3, 2025, police in Beitbridge arrested Stabile Dambudzo Magaya (34) for unlawful possession of dagga.
“The suspect, who was a passenger on a bus, was arrested at the 8-kilometre mark along the Beitbridge–Masvingo Road.
“Police recovered 7.4 kilograms of dagga,” he said.
