ZRP Disowns Ataraxia’s Crime Prevention Summit
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has publicly disassociated itself from the so-called “Annual Crime Prevention Summit 2025,” reportedly organized by Ataraxia and scheduled for 10 September 2025 at Cresta Lodge in Harare.
In an official statement, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi clarified that the police are not involved in any capacity—either as organisers or participants—in the event. He cautioned both the public and business community to exercise vigilance if approached for partnerships, sponsorships, or donations linked to the summit.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has no affiliation with the purported Ataraxia Crime Prevention Summit scheduled for 10th September at Cresta Lodge,” said Commissioner Nyathi. “The Police Service is not part of the planning or execution of this event, and any individual or organisation offering support to it does so entirely at their own risk.”
Nyathi further emphasized that the Commissioner-General of Police and the entire Police Service are not connected to the summit and warned against any attempts to falsely claim endorsement or association with the ZRP.
“We caution against any misrepresentation of police involvement, especially where it may be used for personal or financial benefit,” he added.
The ZRP urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious solicitations involving the name of the police service.
