Kadoma Man Kills Father Over Witchcraft Allegations and ED Claims
A 28-year-old man from Kadoma has been arrested after fatally attacking his father with an axe, accusing him of practicing witchcraft and being responsible for his erectile dysfunction (ED) problems. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, at Justright Plot in the Showground area.
Beer Drinking Ends in Bloodshed
According to reports, the suspect, Talent Chirongoma, had been drinking at Mugwachari Shopping Centre with his friend, Tichawona Ndlovu. Afterwards, the two headed to his father’s homestead.
On arrival, they found 86-year-old Tinos Chirongoma with members of the Apostolic Church (Mwazha). Talent allegedly confronted the group, accusing them of associating with a “witch.” Witnesses said the church members fled in fear.
Tichawona tried to calm him, but Talent struck him on the face with a wooden log, leaving him unconscious. He then turned on his father—first beating him with logs before repeatedly striking him with an axe on the head and legs. Tinos died instantly while his ailing wife looked on helplessly.
Long-Standing Disputes Over Witchcraft
Neighbours said Talent had a history of accusing his father of causing his ED and marital problems. He had reportedly separated from three wives over his condition, which he claimed was spiritually induced. Faith healers had allegedly reinforced his belief that his father was responsible.
“Talent often clashed with his father over witchcraft accusations. He believed his father caused both his ED and his mother’s illness. He became increasingly aggressive towards anyone who tried to advise him,” one neighbour explained.
Police said the matter was reported by Tinashe Magura at Eiffel Flats Police Station. Officers swiftly arrested Talent after the killing.
A police source confirmed: “The suspect fatally assaulted his father using logs and an axe. He is now in custody and investigations are underway.”
