Massive Dagga Bust in Wedza, Mudzi

Police in Mashonaland East Province have arrested three men in separate incidents for the unlawful cultivation of dagga, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.

 

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the arrests were made on Sunday, 21 September 2025, in Wedza and Mudzi districts.

 

In Wedza, officers arrested Munyadzi Nhemachena (43) of Mombe Village, Sadza, after discovering 967 plants of dagga under cultivation.

 

In a separate case in the same area, Jeremiah Nzombe of Dovi Village, Sadza, was taken into custody for allegedly cultivating 26 dagga plants.

 

Meanwhile, in Mudzi District, police apprehended Wiriranai Katsepete (36) of Dzomba Village, Nutoko, in connection with the cultivation of eight dagga plants.

 

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi urged members of the public to desist from engaging in unlawful cultivation and use of prohibited drugs, warning that police would continue to carry out operations targeting drug-related offenses across the country.
