A 20-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced for the theft of household electronic goods belonging to a 77-year-old woman.

According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the Tsholotsho Magistrates’ Court convicted and sentenced 20-year-old Mgncini Sithole for stealing household electronic goods from the elderly woman.

“On an unknown date in September 2025, the offender went to the victim’s home at around 1500 hours on a surveillance mission. He saw a speaker box and a solar-powered inverter in the yard. The victim noticed the offender lurking on her property and later that same day discovered that her speaker box and inverter were missing. On 16 September 2025, the offender returned to the victim’s house asking for work. She recognised him, which led to his arrest,” said NPAZ statement.

The Authority urged members of the public to ensure their property is secure at all times, warning that even a passerby could be harbouring criminal intentions.
