Rapists from Chinhoyi Jailed Two Decades Each

A  Chinhoyi man was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his niece by the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on July 14, the man, who is said to be the younger brother of the victim’s father, committed the offence after being left in charge of the child while her parents were working in the fields.

Taking advantage of their absence, he took the toddler to his room and raped her once.

It came to light later that day when the child’s mother noticed signs of pain while bathing her daughter.

Upon being questioned, the young victim revealed what had happened, leading to the uncle’s arrest.

In another case, a Chinhoyi man (44) was also convicted and jailed for 20 years for raping a 14-year-old mentally-challenged juvenile

According to the NPA, the offence occurred during the early hours of June 4 at Gweru Farm, a man broke into the victim’s home, where she and her younger sister were alone, and raped the girl once.

The act was discovered by the sister who heard noises and found the man raping her elder sister. The offender fled the scene after pushing the younger girl aside.

The following morning, the victim’s father returned home, and upon hearing about the account reported the matter to the police, leading to the offender’s arrest.
