Dynamos claimed bragging rights in the Harare Derby after edging city rivals CAPS United 1–0 in a tense Premiership clash at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Jairos Kasondo rose high to head home a Leroy Mavhunga corner just after the break, handing the Glamour Boys a deserved victory in a match filled with drama, missed chances, and passionate duels.

CAPS United, despite creating numerous opportunities, failed to convert and were left to rue their wastefulness in front of goal. Their frustrations deepened when Bruce Kangwa limped off early, forcing coach Ian Bakala into a tactical reshuffle with Kelvin Mangiza coming on.

Ishmael Wadi squandered one of the Green Machine’s best chances, blazing over the bar when well-positioned, while Junior Bunjira brought urgency on the wing in the second half. His pinpoint cross, however, went begging as CAPS strikers failed to connect.

Dynamos could have doubled their lead through Denver Mukamba, who came off the bench and showcased flashes of brilliance, but his curling effort missed the far post by inches.

Overally, it was a balanced contest, with Makepekepe arguably creating more chances. Still, Dynamos’ defensive discipline and tactical organisation under Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu ensured they secured maximum points.

The victory extended Dembare’s unbeaten run in all competitions since Kaindu’s arrival, while Bakala continues to feel the heat as CAPS struggle to find rhythm in the decisive final stretch of the season.
Both giants are now tied on 32 points, with CAPS ahead only on goal difference.

“It can only be a miracle! given the way we have turned thing around, we were very far deep down the relegation but now we are very close to teams that are above us and I can tell you that in few games to come we will be on a good position” said Kelvin Kaindu

Next up, Dynamos face Ngezi Platinum in another crucial encounter, while CAPS travel to Shamva for a tricky assignment against Simba Bhora.
