Bulawayo Duo Nabbed After US$10K Garage Heist
Two Bulawayo men allegedly pulled off a brazen break-in at a Kelvin North garage, making off with rims and tyres valued at more than US$10 000.
The suspects, Nhlanhla Ndebele (26) of Tshabalala and Mandlenkosi Moyo (21) of Iminyela, were brought before Western Commonage Magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube to answer to theft charges and were remanded in custody.
According to prosecutor Cathrine Kuzu, the accused first targeted the garage on 21 August, taking 11 rims and three tyres without being detected.
However, they returned just three days later, around 5 AM, in an attempt to seize more goods. This time their plan fell apart when neighbourhood watch members intervened.
Ndebele was arrested on the spot, while Moyo managed to flee but was later tracked down by the police. Investigators also managed to recover part of the stolen property from a buyer who was unaware of its origin.
