The government has approved the Zimbabwe Global Skills Partnership Programme, a new initiative designed to boost the country’s skills development and support economic growth.

The programme focuses on critical areas such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Health, and Agriculture, which were highlighted in the 2018 National Critical Skills Audit as essential for Zimbabwe’s development.

Through this programme, Zimbabwe will build international partnerships that allow young professionals to benefit from foreign Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placements, on-the-job training, and exposure to advanced technologies.

Some of the key benefits include:

-Ethical recruitment and protection of Zimbabwean workers abroad.

-Recognition of local qualifications in partner countries, ensuring fair job opportunities.

-Employment opportunities for skilled but under-utilised youth, reducing unemployment and social pressures.

-Foreign currency inflows through remittances from professionals working abroad.

-Skills transfer, as trained Zimbabweans will return with international experience to contribute to national priorities.

The Government said the programme will help create a world-class skills base, promote stability, and ensure that Zimbabwean talent contributes both at home and abroad.
