Zimbabwe’s BUSE Team Shines Globally, Takes Second at Enactus World Cup

A team from Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) has secured second place at the prestigious 2025 Enactus World Cup, earning global recognition for their innovative solutions to social and economic challenges.

Led by Donald Mhlanga, the Zimbabwean team outperformed hundreds of universities worldwide at the competition, which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The annual event brings together student entrepreneurs to showcase projects aimed at driving sustainable development in their communities, with participants judged by panels of international business leaders, academics, and experts.

The BUSE team’s award-winning projects included a seed coating initiative designed to improve agricultural productivity and an energy innovation that enables shoes to generate electricity to charge electronic devices.

Team members included Last Baloyi, Tadiwa Takawira, Vimbai Euphasia Nyahuma, Jabulani Charity Mugonderwa, Tanyaradzwa Chanetsa, Tanaka Chimpelo, Tanaka Tempo, Billy Chitanda, and Liturgy Kufa.

The accolade places Zimbabwe among the top innovators in the world, underscoring the country’s potential to contribute to global problem-solving through science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
