The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with separate murder and robbery cases in Ruwa and Bulawayo.

National police spokespersons announced that on 3 October 2025, detectives from CID Homicide in Harare arrested Phillip Mutasa (38) for the murder and robbery of Joseph Mutangadura (67), which took place at Mutangadura Hideout along Dunstan Road, Ruwa, on 17 August 2025.

Acting on intelligence, detectives tracked Mutasa to Mkoba Six, Gweru, where he was apprehended. The suspect has since implicated seven accomplices who are still at large. Police have launched a manhunt for the fugitives.

Meanwhile, in Bulawayo, detectives arrested Nehemiah Dladla (38), Simon Dube (28), and Sekai Vhumbunu (45) for their alleged involvement in a series of armed robberies committed between June 25 and October 3, 2025.

According to police, one of the suspects, Dladla, was linked to a robbery committed on 3 October at around 11:00 AM near a shop along Leopold Takawira Avenue, between Fort Street and Herbert Chitepo Street. In that incident, assailants allegedly stole US$36,000 in cash and a cellphone.

Police have since urged the public to remain vigilant and to continue assisting law enforcement with information that may lead to the arrest of suspects still at large.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police will ensure that all criminals involved in murder and robbery cases are accounted for and face justice,” the statement read.

Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
