Ex warriors forward nabbed in major drug bust
Reactive Midlands drug law enforcement agents intercepted over 700 kilogrammes of dagga that had been smuggled in the country by fomer national forward Tumai Matsika (29) alias Abas Amidu.
National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest saying Abas Amidu was nabbed with his accomplice with dagga worth over USD 70 000.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of soccer players, Tumai Matsika, also known as Abas Amidu (29) and Reuben Kudzai Mhlanga (41) for drug trafficking.
“The two were found in possession of $75,000.00 worth of 750 kilogrammes of dagga in a silver Honda Shuttle vehicle, registration number AGP 6776, along the Kwekwe – Kadoma Highway on 3 October 2025,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
In a related matter Commissioner Nyathi said Harare police units arrested Prosper Mphofu (48) at Trabablas Interchange after receiving a parcel containing 60 kilogrammes of dagga worth USD 6 000 from a certain vehicle.
