Meal and Milk Masked Marijuana, Woman Sentenced

A Silobela woman has been sentenced to four years in jail by the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court today for dealing in dagga with one year suspended on condition of good behaviour.

According to a statement issued by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) today, Chewame Wasili, was sentenced to four years imprisonment, with one year suspended for good behaviour.

“On the 12th of April 2025, at 0730 hours, detectives received a tip off that the offender was trafficking drugs. They tracked the offender and found her at the Redcliff Turn-off bus stop, in Redcliff. Detectives approached the offender who was about to board a taxi and searched her. They found 2 cobs of dagga hidden in 2 packs of mealie meal and more dagga disguised as 3 boxes of powdered milk. The recovered dagga weighed 23.55kgs,” said the NPA statement

The offender was sentenced to 4 years in prison, with one year suspended on condition of good behaviour. She will serve an effective 3 years in jail.

“Unauthorized possession, use, and distribution of dagga (cannabis) is unlawful and is subject to arrest and prosecution. Habitual drug use, including cannabis, is a serious concern that contributes to crime and public health issues,” the NPA statement added.
