PSL Probes Ngezi Coach Over Player Assault Incident
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has launched an investigation into the conduct of Ngezi Platinum Stars head coach, Takesure Chiragwi, following an incident during his team’s match against Dynamos FC on Saturday, 4 October 2025, at Rufaro Stadium.
The incident, which was broadcast live on ZBC Jive TV, appeared to show Chiragwi physically assaulting one of his own players in the technical area. The footage quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage among football fans and stakeholders.
In a statement, the PSL said it had taken note of the coach’s “apparent conduct” and has requested a detailed report from Ngezi Platinum Stars FC to establish the full facts surrounding the matter.
“Whilst the league currently awaits all the official match reports, we have requested the Club to also submit a detailed report on the incident to enable the league to establish the facts,” the PSL said.
The league emphasized that the safety, security, and safeguarding of players, officials, and all stakeholders remain a top priority. It also condemned any form of violence, warning that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken if Chiragwi is found guilty of misconduct.
“The league strongly condemns any form of violence and the PSL will not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary action where necessary in line with the PSL Rules and Regulations,” the statement read.
The PSL concluded by noting that it would not make further comment until all reports have been received and reviewed.
The alleged assault has cast a shadow over what was otherwise an intense and highly anticipated clash between two of the league’s top sides. Football analysts have since urged the PSL to handle the matter decisively to uphold professionalism and protect player welfare in the domestic game.
