Gift Jambaya (50) of St Mannocks farm, appeared before the Chinhoyi Regional Court on a charge of culpable homicide following a tragic dog attack that resulted in the death of a 13-year-old schoolgirl, Caroline Chari, last week in Nyabira.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Jambaya is accused of negligence for leaving his six cross-breed dogs unsecured at his place of residence.

“On the afternoon of the incident, the now-deceased Caroline Chari and other pupils were walking home from school when they were allegedly chased by the six unsecured dogs.

While Caroline’s companions managed to flee, she was unfortunately caught, attacked, and bitten by the animals. A search party was later able to recover the victim’s remains, which showed evidence of the brutal attack, including “multiple deep cuts and dog bites,” said the NPA statement.
