Sarah Masiyiwa Joins Econet Wireless Board as Alternate Director
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has announced the appointment of Sarah Masiyiwa, daughter of the company’s founder and executive chairman Strive Masiyiwa, as an Alternate Director on its board.
Sarah, who holds a background in economics and global media, officially joined the board in October 2025. Her appointment marks a continuation of the Masiyiwa family’s involvement in the leadership of one of Zimbabwe’s most influential telecommunications firms.
She steps into the role with a focus on investment strategy and innovation, bringing a fresh perspective to the company’s long-term growth plans amid a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Her sister, Elizabeth Tanya Masiyiwa, has been serving in a similar capacity since April 2022, and also sits as a Director on the Econet board.
Together, the two sisters represent a new generation of leadership in the Econet Group, reflecting a balance between continuity and forward-looking transformation.
Econet’s decision to include more youthful voices at board level underscores its strategy to remain competitive in an era of digital transformation, particularly in fintech, digital media, and artificial intelligence (AI).
