CZR Endorses President Mnangagwa Ahead of ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and his administration ahead of the ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference set to take place in Mutare this week.
Dr. Denford Mutashu, President of the CZR, commended President Mnangagwa’s “visionary leadership” under the Second Republic, saying the country had made significant progress in economic stabilisation, infrastructure modernisation and regional diplomacy. He said Zimbabwe had recorded “landmark achievements” since 2017, positioning the nation on a firm path toward sustainable development.
Mutashu highlighted major infrastructure developments such as the modernisation of the Harare–Beitbridge Highway, the Mbudzi Traffic Interchange, the expansion of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, and major energy and water projects including Hwange Units 7 and 8 and the Gwayi-Shangani Dam.
“These projects are not only enhancing trade efficiency but also building confidence across key economic sectors,” said Mutashu.
He added that the government’s agricultural and mining programmes had spurred productivity, boosted food security, and attracted record investment.
“The mining sector, now contributing towards the realisation of the USD12 billion mining economy, has seen unprecedented investment inflows, while local industry continues to benefit from value-addition initiatives,” the statement read.
CZR also praised the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, describing it as a “bold measure” aimed at strengthening the local currency, preserving value and promoting economic confidence.
On the regional front, Mutashu said President Mnangagwa’s assumption of the SADC Chairmanship in 2024 was a testament to his leadership credentials and commitment to peace, regional integration and economic growth.
“As delegates converge in Mutare, CZR implores them to uphold peace, unity and continuity, for without peace, there can be no progress or prosperity,” he added.
The retail body said it remained committed to working closely with the government to achieve the national vision of a modern, industrialised and inclusive economy.
“The business community pledges its continued support towards building a prosperous Zimbabwe that leaves no one and no place behind,” the statement concluded.
