Two Men Stabbed to Death at Luveve Shopping Centre
Police in Bulawayo are investigating a double murder after two men were stabbed to death during a violent incident at Chigumira Shopping Centre in Luveve in the early hours of Tuesday.
The victims have been identified as Bishop Ncube (46) of Lobengula West and Malach Ndlovu (40) of Luveve.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2AM when a 39 year old man from Old Luveve was alerted by an unknown woman that a fight had broken out near a local bar involving about seven unidentified men, believed to be illegal miners.
The man rushed to the scene and found Ncube lying inside the bar, bleeding profusely from a stab wound on the forehead and a deep cut on the thigh. He rushed him to Mpilo Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police who attended the scene later discovered blood stains at the main gate of the bar. A trail of blood led them to a nearby spot where they found Ndlovu’s body with multiple stab wounds. His remains were also taken to Mpilo Hospital for a post-mortem.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, confirmed the incident and appealed for information that may assist in tracking down the suspects.
“We urge members of the public to resolve their differences amicably rather than resorting to violence, which often leads to unnecessary loss of life,” she said.
Police investigations are continuing.
