Man Arrested for Impersonating Student During ZIMSEC Exams in Buhera

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man after he was allegedly caught trying to sit for an Ordinary Level examination on behalf of another candidate in Buhera.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the suspect, identified as Brighton Chinhenga, was caught at Mukondomi Secondary School on 13 October 2025 while writing Mathematics Paper 1 during the ongoing ZIMSEC exams.

Police say Chinhenga was pretending to be another registered student, whose details have not yet been released.

He was immediately taken into custody after exam officials raised suspicions about his identity.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are underway to determine how he gained access to the examination room and whether other individuals were involved in the impersonation attempt.
