A popular fitness coach from Borrowdale has landed in police custody after allegedly stealing US$5,000 from one of his gym clients’ vehicles  while the client was still exercising inside the facility.

The suspect, identified as Tinashe Gandari, works at the exclusive Pro Fitness Health Club situated at The Village complex in Borrowdale. His arrest on Wednesday has caused a stir within Harare’s high-end fitness community.

According to reports, the victim Allen Tatenda Badzarugere (39)  had parked his Mercedes-Benz outside the gym before beginning his usual workout session, unaware that his trusted trainer was plotting a daring theft.

Investigations indicate that Gandari allegedly entered the changing rooms, took the client’s car keys without permission, and quietly went to the parking area. He then opened the vehicle and reportedly took US$5,000 that had been kept in the glove compartment.

When Badzarugere finished his workout and returned to the car, he discovered the money missing. Since there were no signs of forced entry, he suspected that someone had gained access using his keys.

Police confirmed that Gandari, a former employee of the gym, has been detained and is cooperating with investigators.
