FC Hunters Crowned 2025 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Champions
FC Hunters have completed their fairytale run in style, clinching the 2025 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League title after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Tenax Correctional Services FC at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera.
The win, coupled with a goalless draw between Masvingo United FC and Manica Diamonds U19, confirmed the Clever Boys as champions with a game to spare, earning them automatic promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
FC Hunters now sit comfortably on 66 points, an unassailable lead ahead of Masvingo United (62) and Tenax (61).
It was a tense afternoon in Marondera, as both sides battled for pride and position. Tenax drew first blood early on, momentarily silencing the Hunters supporters, but the champions elect fought back with composure and determination. Their equaliser came midway through the first half after a slick passing move carved open the Tenax defence. The winning goal, a powerful late strike, sealed the title and sparked jubilant celebrations at the final whistle.
Players, coaches, and fans flooded the pitch in scenes of pure elation, marking the club’s first ever promotion to the country’s top-flight league. For the Marondera based outfit, this triumph is the culmination of years of hard work and persistence. FC Hunters have been among the most consistent sides this season, blending tactical discipline with attacking flair. Their journey from underdogs to champions is a testament to their resilience and ambition.
Elsewhere, the league sponsors’ Match of the Month lived up to its billing at Ratings Arena in Middle Sabi, where Rusitu Tigers edged Tongogara United 4-2 in an electrifying Chipinge Derby. The encounter produced six goals and relentless end to end action, with Tongogara refusing to back down despite Rusitu’s early dominance. The spectacle drew a massive crowd, further boosted by live performances from top artists including Jah Master, who entertained the fans with a polished set.
The event, powered by Pacific Storm, also featured prize giveaways and fan competitions, creating a carnival atmosphere that celebrated community football at its finest.
Pacific Storm Marketing Manager Kudakwashe Chiutsi, who attended the match, praised the success of this year’s campaign, reaffirming the sponsor’s commitment to developing grassroots football.
“We’re not just investing in teams; we’re investing in dreams,” Chiutsi said. “This season has shown how vibrant and united the Eastern Region football community truly is.”
As the curtain comes down on the 2025 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season, FC Hunters’ rise stands out as one of Zimbabwean football’s most inspiring stories this year. Their promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League opens a new chapter, one filled with tougher tests, bigger crowds, and higher expectations. But if their performances this season are anything to go by, the Clever Boys are more than ready to hunt among the giants.
