Zimbabwe has earned international recognition after the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) was named Africa’s Best Exhibitor at the prestigious China Mining Conference and Exhibition, currently underway at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center.

The annual conference, regarded as one of the world’s biggest platforms for mining innovation, investment, and technology exchange, brings together global mining leaders, investors, and policymakers. Zimbabwe’s exhibit stood out among other African participants for its focus on sustainable mining, value addition, and the country’s commitment to green energy transition.

ZMF president Henrietta Rushwaya expressed pride in the achievement, saying the award reflects Zimbabwe’s growing footprint in the global mining space. “We are honored to have been voted Africa’s best exhibitor at such a competitive event,” she said. “Our stand highlights key issues shaping the future of mining, from sustainability and responsible extraction to beneficiation and renewable energy integration. It shows that Zimbabwe is serious about keeping pace with global mining trends.”

Rushwaya said the recognition was not just a victory for ZMF, but for the entire Zimbabwean mining sector, which continues to attract international attention through partnerships and innovation. She credited the success to teamwork and collaboration between ZMF, Kuvimba Mining House, CBZ Bank, Fidelity Gold Refinery, and the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, all of whom contributed to showcasing Zimbabwe’s potential as a modern, forward-thinking mining destination.

“This award proves that Zimbabwe is not only rich in minerals but also rich in ideas and ambition,” Rushwaya said. “The collaboration between government, miners, and financial institutions has been crucial in positioning our country as a serious player on the global mining stage.”

Zimbabwe’s exhibition emphasized the country’s strategic shift towards beneficiation, ensuring that minerals are processed locally before export, as well as responsible environmental management. The display also featured presentations on how small-scale and artisanal miners are being empowered through access to modern technology, financial support, and formalization programs.

Industry observers at the Tianjin conference praised Zimbabwe’s presentation for balancing innovation with sustainability, noting that the country’s focus on cleaner, smarter mining aligns with China’s own push for environmentally friendly industrial growth.

As the global mining community increasingly prioritizes green technology and responsible resource use, Zimbabwe’s recognition in China underscores its readiness to evolve from a traditional extractive economy to one that embraces modern mining practices.

For ZMF, the award serves as a major boost ahead of upcoming investment missions and international collaborations. “This recognition gives us confidence to continue advocating for progressive mining policies back home,” Rushwaya said. “It also reminds the world that Zimbabwe is open for business, and ready to lead Africa’s next chapter in sustainable mining.”

The China Mining Conference continues this week, bringing together delegates from over 50 countries. For Zimbabwe, the spotlight moment in Tianjin marks not only a win on the exhibition floor but also a symbolic victory for the country’s renewed vision of industrial growth and environmental responsibility in the mining sector.
