Man City Target Real Madrid Sensation in Midfield Refresh
Manchester City are reportedly exploring a sensational move for Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, as manager Pep Guardiola looks to strengthen his midfield ahead of next season.
According to reports from TeamTalk, citing Spanish outlet Fichajes, City have “initiated talks” with Guler’s camp as part of their long-term plans to refresh the squad. The 19-year-old Turkish international has impressed since joining Madrid, earning admiration for his creativity, vision, and maturity beyond his years.
Guardiola is believed to be eyeing young, technically gifted players as several of his midfield stalwarts approach uncertain futures. Bernardo Silva could leave next summer, while injuries to Rodri and Nico González have exposed the need for greater depth in central areas.
However, Real Madrid are reportedly reluctant to part with Guler, viewing him as a “crucial asset for both the present and the future.” Any potential deal would therefore require a massive fee, with speculation suggesting Madrid could demand around £130 million.
Sources close to the Etihad say there is genuine admiration for Guler’s potential and belief that the chance to work under Guardiola could tempt him to the Premier League. Yet Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is said to be determined to keep the youngster, complicating City’s pursuit.
If successful, the move would signal City’s intent to invest in long-term talent and maintain their dominance both domestically and in Europe.
