Warriors assistant coach Kaitano Tembo has broken his silence on reports linking him with the senior national team’s top job following the dismissal of Michael Nees last week.

Tembo, who served as Nees’ assistant during the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Group C campaign, has emerged as one of the names tipped to take over the hot seat.

However, the South Africa-based mentor refused to be drawn into speculation surrounding his future, Tembo said:

“No comment. For that, I can’t comment.”

Reflecting on his recent stint with the Warriors technical team, the Sekhukhune United coach said the experience had been valuable and eye-opening.

“It’s always good to be in that environment. You always learn when you work at a different level as well,” Tembo explained. “For me, it’s important not to cage myself, but to spread my wings. I also appreciate Sekhukhune United for allowing me that opportunity.”

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has officially advertised the Warriors head coach position, inviting qualified candidates to submit their applications. The new coach is expected to be appointed before the November international window.
