PAP Delegation Arrives in Zimbabwe for Strategic Mining Summit
A high level delegation from the Pan African Parliament (PAP) has arrived in Zimbabwe ahead of a strategic mining summit scheduled for Wednesday in Harare. The conference seeks to enhance cooperation and promote knowledge exchange among African countries within the mining sector.
Among the visiting delegates is Ambassador Bridgette Motsepe, who landed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Tuesday. The veteran businesswoman, with extensive experience in the mining industry, has been actively involved in Zimbabwe’s mining operations over the years.
“I started in 1986 as the first black underground mining producer in Africa. Back then, mining was largely artisanal and manual, so it was important to develop more sophisticated production methods. I owned a company that worked with major mining houses and also operated a mine in Shurugwi, Zimbabwe,” she said.
Ambassador Motsepe praised Pan African Parliament President Chief Fortune Charumbira for championing collaboration among African nations.
“I am pleased with our president, Chief Fortune Charumbira. He is very unique and visionary, and we’ve been discussing how African countries can learn from each other’s experiences in mining and ownership,” she added.
The summit is expected to strengthen continental partnerships in the extractive industry and promote sustainable wealth creation across Africa.
