Minister Rwodzi Lauds President, First Lady for Boosting Tourism Sector
Tourism and Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi has extended heartfelt appreciation to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa for their tireless efforts in propelling Zimbabwe’s tourism sector to new heights, earning international recognition and acclaim.

Tourism and Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi has extended heartfelt appreciation to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa for their tireless efforts in propelling Zimbabwe’s tourism sector to new heights, earning international recognition and acclaim.
Minister Rwodzi’s praise comes amid a remarkable boom in the sector, with Zimbabwe emerging as a premier destination for global travellers.
A fortnight ago, Zimbabwe was recognised as the world’s top travel destination for 2025 by Forbes magazine, a renowned global publication.
Basking in the spotlight, of the country’s tourism success and glowing recognition Minister Rwodzi said international engagements made by President Mnangagwa and the First Lady have yielded a new chapter in the country’s tourism records.
“I thank the President for his strategies, which have worked for us to be on the top of the world, to be a must-visit destination for 2025, which has become the Please Zimbabwe Open for Business mantra, and also that we are enemy to none and friend to all.
“It is not like people come for tourism as in just leisure, but people are coming to Zimbabwe for investment, which is business.
“People are coming to Zimbabwe for conferences, which is also business.
“People are choosing Zimbabwe as my tourism destination, which sees events, workshops, conferencing coming to Zimbabwe, which means the President’s strategy about opening the country to the world is working and we are realising the fruits of those strategies,” said Minister Rwodzi.
She said First Lady Mnangagwa has played a pivotal role in promoting the nation’s tourism sector through innovative and transformative intiatives that has the global village under one unit.
“The patron of tourism, Her Excellency Dr. Auxilia Mnangagwa, has done a great job, which has been realised by the United Nations. That came into the country last year in July, and ever since the United Nations came into the country, it was an endorsement to the world to say Zimbabwe is peaceful with a hospitable society.
Zimbabwe has water to drink and water to bath. Zimbabwe is electricity. People from various countries across the globe are now flocking into the country to prove themselves,”she said.
She said the country has since witnessed an increase in the number of tourists jetting into the country.
“As a tourism ministry, we continue marketing our country. We continue with our cluster based strategy which help us to identify exact needs of our sector,” said Minister Rwodzi.
She said the Transport Ministry has butressed tourism boom.
“The roads are accessible to tourism attractions and to even go and host my tourism events.
“Look at what the President has done over the past seven years. The airport of RGM is one of the state-of-the-art airports in Africa,” she said.
