The Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) has announced that a moment of silence will be observed before the start of all Matchday 38 fixtures, marking the final round of the 2025 season, in honour of the late referee Lindon Muza.

Muza, a respected match official within the Northern Region, tragically passed away earlier this week, sending shockwaves across Zimbabwe’s football community. His untimely death has left a deep void in the refereeing fraternity, with tributes pouring in from clubs, players, and fellow officials who described him as a dedicated, fair, and passionate servant of the game.

In a statement released by NRSL Administrator E. Shava, the league confirmed that the gesture will be observed across all venues hosting the final round of matches this weekend.

“The Northern Region Soccer League would like to inform all clubs that there will be a moment of silence observed before the start of all matches on Matchday 38, the final fixture of the 2025 season, in honour of the late referee Lindon Muza.

This gesture is to pay our respects and recognize his contribution to the game and the football community.

We kindly ask all clubs, officials and players to cooperate in upholding this moment of remembrance,” read the statement.

The NRSL emphasized that the decision reflects the league’s collective appreciation of Muza’s years of service and his role in promoting integrity and professionalism within Zimbabwean football.

Muza had officiated in numerous high profile fixtures in the Northern Region and was widely regarded as one of the league’s most consistent and disciplined referees. His colleagues and players alike admired his calm demeanor and deep understanding of the game.

The moment of silence will precede kick-off at all designated venues as teams wrap up what has been one of the most competitive and eventful seasons in recent years.

The football community continues to mourn the loss of one of its own, with the NRSL urging everyone involved in the final round of matches to uphold the spirit of respect, unity, and remembrance that defined Muza’s contribution to the sport.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
