Agama FC Crowned Northern Region Kings After Dramatic Final Day Triumph
Mount Darwin erupted into celebration as Agama FC etched their name into local football history, clinching the Northern Region Division One Soccer League title in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season.
Heading into the decisive weekend, all eyes were on log leaders N’ombeyawora, the feeder team of Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC, who looked poised for promotion. But Agama had other plans. The Darwin based outfit produced a stunning 4-0 demolition of FC Oden, overturning the odds and snatching the crown right at the death.
Their rivals, N’ombeyawora, faltered when it mattered most, falling 1-0 to MWOS U19, a result that sealed Agama’s fairytale rise to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (CLPSL).
This victory marks Agama’s first-ever promotion to the top flight, a monumental milestone for a team that has spent years fighting for recognition in Zimbabwe’s competitive lower divisions.
The triumph completes the quartet of newly promoted sides for the 2026 CLPSL season:
Agama FC (Northern Region)
Hunters FC (Eastern Region)
Hard Rock FC (Central Region)
Bulawayo Chiefs (Southern Region)
While Hunters and Hard Rock celebrate their maiden ascents, Bulawayo Chiefs make a swift return after being relegated last season, ensuring an intriguing blend of fresh ambition and seasoned experience in next year’s Premier Soccer League.
As Agama fans danced through the streets of Darwin on Sunday night, one thing was clear, the Northern Region has a new powerhouse, and the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is about to meet its newest warriors.
