Romário Ends Relationship With 22 Year Old University Student

Brazilian football legend and senator Romário has reportedly ended his relationship with 22 year old university student Alicya Gomes, just over a year after the pair began dating.

The 59 year old former World Cup winner and self confessed s*x addict is said to have unfollowed Gomes on social media, fuelling speculation that their relationship has come to an end.

According to reports in Brazilian media, Romário was recently seen in the company of a mystery blonde woman during a record launch event in Rio de Janeiro, where the two were reportedly spotted in close conversation.

Romário and Gomes began dating in September 2024 after meeting during an electoral campaign. The couple first appeared publicly at the Rock in Rio music festival last October, where they were photographed together watching Mariah Carey perform.

Gomes, a nutrition student from Baixada Fluminense, drew national attention earlier this year when she attended Romário’s 59th birthday celebration in February. Prior to that, the football icon had hosted a private party at his mansion to mark her 22nd birthday.

At the time, Romário posted a public birthday message to her, writing: “Congratulations, baby. Peace, happiness, wisdom, light, and good health always. You are simply wonderful in every way.”

The couple’s 37 year age gap sparked heated debate online, with some fans defending the relationship as a matter of personal choice, while others questioned the dynamics involved.

Romário, who has six children from different relationships, has often made headlines for his outspoken comments about s*x and relationships. In past interviews, he admitted to having s*x before football matches, saying it made him feel “calmer and lighter” on the pitch.

Before dating Gomes, Romário was in a relationship with influencer Marcelle Ceolin, 25 years his junior. The two separated in August 2022 after a seven-month romance.

Despite his numerous public relationships, the former Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven striker remains one of Brazil’s most celebrated athletes, revered for his achievements on the field and equally known for his colourful personal life.
