EURO 2028 SCHEDULE REVEALED AS WALES SET TO OPEN TOURNAMENT

The stage is set for Euro 2028, which will unfold across England, Wales, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland from June 9 to July 9, with Spain arriving as defending champions after edging England in the dramatic Euro 2024 final.

Tournament organisers have now confirmed the full schedule, and all eyes are on Wales, who could kick off the festival of football with the opening match at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, if England secure qualification, their campaign will start at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium before moving to Wembley Stadium for the final two group matches. Should Gareth Southgate’s men top their group, they’ll play the Round of 16 at St James’ Park in Newcastle, before returning to Wembley for the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

The format sees 24 teams battle it out across nine iconic venues in the four host nations, but only two will receive automatic qualification spots. Those who qualify will still get the chance to play all their group matches on home soil, a huge boost for local fans.

Scotland are lined up to play all their group games at Hampden Park, while Wales and the Republic of Ireland will do the same at the Principality Stadium and Aviva Stadium respectively, should they make it through the qualifiers.

One notable omission from the host list is Northern Ireland. Plans for Casement Park in Belfast were scrapped after the UK government withdrew redevelopment funding in late 2024. However, Belfast will still play a role, hosting the Euro 2028 qualifying draw on December 6 next year.

The countdown is officially on and with football’s biggest names set to descend on these islands, Euro 2028 promises to be a summer to remember.
