Pretoria Magistrate’s Court Frees Job Sikhala on USD110 Bail
Prominent Zimbabwean opposition politician Job Sikhala has been granted bail by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court after his arrest last week on charges of possession of explosives.
Sikhala appeared in court today where he applied for bail, following his arrest in Pretoria alongside his 78-year-old uncle, Alexander Ferrowst Thema. Police allege that explosives were discovered in a vehicle linked to Sikhala in the South African capital.
After hearing submissions from both the defense and the prosecution, the magistrate granted Sikhala bail set at USD 110. Details surrounding the exact nature and intended use of the explosives have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
Sikhala, a veteran opposition figure and former legislator in Zimbabwe, has faced numerous arrests over the years related to his political activism.
