PSL Hands Down Disciplinary Rulings Against Ngezi Platinum Stars FC, Coach Chiragwi and Player Chigwida
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has issued a firm disciplinary judgment against Ngezi Platinum Stars FC, Head Coach Takesure Chiragwi and defender Kudzai Chigwida following incidents that occurred during the club’s Castle Lager PSL clash with Dynamos FC at Rufaro Stadium on 4 October 2025.
According to a statement released by the League on Friday, the PSL Disciplinary Committee found Ngezi Platinum Stars guilty of “disturbing the normal proceedings of a game and improper behaviour” involving both players and technical officials. The club was fined US$5,000.
Head Coach Takesure Chiragwi pleaded guilty to charges of violent and disorderly conduct, as well as behaviour deemed likely to bring the League into disrepute. He was handed a US$4,000 fine, with US$1,000 suspended on condition that he completes anger-management lessons through a PSL-approved organisation.
In determining the penalty, the Committee noted the coach’s public apology to the affected player, the League and stakeholders, along with the internal disciplinary action swiftly taken by the club. The panel also acknowledged his suspension from official duties and his voluntary step-down from his role as Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team Assistant Coach during the recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Defender Kudzai Chigwida was also sanctioned after being found guilty of ungentlemanly conduct and making improper remarks to a match official. He received a US$100 fine.
The PSL reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, professionalism and respect across all its competitions.
